Racing Expert – Months #5 & #6 – Yes But…

With the exception of matched betting service reviews, it’s rare for any trial to go completely smoothly.

And my long-term test of Racing Expert has been a case in point.

The first month was wonderful, the second one definitely wasn’t, the third was positive again and the fourth was basically flat.

Still, the good news was that, overall, we were making pretty healthy profits, with the ROI remaining in double figures after 150 bets.

So, with just 50 bets remaining before I reached my trial finishing line, I was starting to hope I might finally be on the verge of awarding that rarest of things, a Pass rating.

Well, I’ve reached my 200 bet target now. So, did we finish in the black?

Read on to find out…

(If however, you’re new to Racing Expert, I recommend you first read my opening article and earlier progress reports before coming back here for the latest update).

Yes, we did. But it was all a bit of an anti-climax.

I’ve added 58 bets since I wrote my last update – but unfortunately, we’ve gone backwards again.

The exact performance figures for the latest period are as follows:

Racing Expert – Months #5 to #6 Advised Prices Price taken Betfair SP
Profit (£ 62.40) (£ 130.29) (£ 165.20)
Profit (pts) -3.1 -6.6 -8.3
New Bank £ 1,384.00 £ 1,210.73 £ 1,092.32
%age bank Growth -4.31% -9.72% -13.14%
Wins(races w/ profit) 22 22 21
Bets 58 58 58
Strike rate(races w/ profit) 37.93% 37.93% 36.21%
ROI -5.38% -11.23% -14.24%

Adding these figures to the brought forward totals for the first four months produces a reasonable — but not exactly stellar — set of whole trial numbers:

Racing Expert – Whole Trial Advised Prices Price taken Betfair SP
Profit £ 384.00 £ 210.73 £ 92.32
Profit (pts) 19.2 10.5 4.6
New Bank £ 1,384.00 £ 1,210.73 £ 1,092.32
%age bank Growth 38.40% 21.07% 9.23%
Wins(races w/ profit) 87 86 86
Bets 208 208 208
Strike rate(races w/ profit) 41.83% 41.35% 41.35%
ROI 9.28% 5.09% 2.23%

All of which is just about satisfactory, but feels like it could have been so much better.

I’ve been testing this product for half a year yet wonder if I am still any the wiser than when I started out.

Yes, I’ve made a modest profit. But there is a big difference between my ROI of around 5% and the “huge” ROI that the sales page talks about of over 49%.

To its credit, this is a very good value service that’s currently available for just £67 a year. And that’s without having to commit to rebills and with a 60-day money back guarantee.

I’m very close to awarding a Pass… but somehow, I just can’t.

So I’m going to push on until I’ve reached 400 bets – or the twelve month mark, whichever comes first. Then I’ll make my mind up.

I sense there is a lot more to come from Racing Expert so I’m staying positive.

I’ll be back at 300 bets with my next report.
